Mama’s Lemonade

My son was born in the middle of a heat wave and so my milk took a while to come in. I was advised by a lactation consultant to try some Gatorade to help with production. Appalled by some of the nasty chemicals in many sports drinks I did a little investigation and turns out it’s the electrolytes that really help ramp up lactation. Since I already use Vega Hydrator, I thought I would get a little creative coming up with some fun combo’s to stay hydrated during the summer months. I make 2 litres in the morning and drink all day long. And of course, the whole family loves it too.

Ingredients

2 litres of filtered water
1 cup of ice
2 scoops or packages of Vega Hydrator (I really like the Lemon Lime flavor)
2 lemons or limes (juiced)
Optional: 2 tsp of chia seeds (excellent source of protein, fibre, iron and Omega 3)

Mix all the ingredients in a large jug and shake! Let it sit for 10 minutes. Enjoy.

You can also get creative and try adding other flavors such as basil, mint, oranges.

It’s super simple to make and will keep you sipping all day long. Since Vega Hydrator is sweetened with Stevia so if you add the chia seeds its only 23 calories per cup!
